INTERVIEW:Five minutes with Charles Webster

For those who don’t know Charles Webster, the man has been in the House/Dance scene for about two decades and has showered us with his beautiful music. The man is a star and an extraordinaire writer, producer, a disc jockey and a philanthropist who is still a real person with an amazing personality.

This pioneer of House was recently invited by the Do-It-Now Recordings to come and grace us (House music lovers) with what he does best.

So Kaizen Lifestyle Magazine was able to score an inteview with the main man before he jetted off to his home country.

Here’s what we gathered from the man himself.

1.What brings you to South Africa?
Charles Webster(CW):Do It Now Recordings approached me and asked me to come play in SA and also given me the platform to launch my compilation called Studio Soul.
2.What are you working on at the moment?

CW: I’m actually this side to promote my album (Studio Soul) that will be launched in SA sometime this month. Me and Atjazz under the label “Version” will be releasing our album in November and in it we working with a female Vocalist named Amelia.

CW: It has been something nice and different. People this side are very passionate about music and i’m happy to play for people like that.

4.If you had to choose between being a disc jockey and producer, which one will you prefer doing?

CW: I would prefer making and writing music because that is a long term job; your music will always be there and played forever. Whereas, playing a gigs is just a temporary thing.

5.How do you give back to the community?

CW: I think it’s important for me to give back to the people who supports and love my music through what i’m best of. Charles will be playing at a charity event called “Cancer Sucks” that will be held at Chaf Pozi on the 8th October 2011.

KANYE WEST LOUNCHES HIS CLOTHING LINE?

After being denied access from the Balmain show at the last Paris fashion week thanks to the notoriously tough, all black wearing KCD PR girls, Kanye West will be returning with a vengeance this season. The rapper and fashionista (who wore a Celine women's blouse from their Spring/Summer 2011 collection while performing at Coachella) has been the subject of much industry gossip suggesting that he would design for a variety of labels.

Then, it was announced he would be debuting his own line this season in Paris. Ballsy, to say the least. Details of the project have been kept on the down-low, but Vogue UK reports that Mr. West has brought on quirky, London-based designer Katie Eary as "one of the creative leads." Do a quick Google Image search for her designs and you will immediately see why her and Yeezy had a creative connection. In short, they're both nuts.

I know a lot of you feel that Kanye is totally overrated, and that he has no business getting involved in the fashion industry, but I disagree. Sure, scheduling your first runway show in what is practically the fashion capital of the world is definitely a bold and cocky move, but what else can we expect from him? We can't deny his swagger. We just can'
