LIFESTYLE: Launch of the Market on Main

This coming sunday on the 23rd of January 2011will see the launch of Market On Main, which will be situated on Arts On Main. This will become a metropolis of culinary experts, ambitious food entrepreneurs and food lovers while promoting regional economic development. We support small businesses dedicated to creating local food systems and to reviving the thriving, equitable culture of the urban public marketplace.

Beyond the outstanding cuisine, the people and the place are key to the success. Market On Main will incubate a new and growing business sector: purveyors who source food directly from farmers and producers whom they trust to be good stewards of our land. As a result, the market will become a hub of knowledge and understanding. A place to explore, to ask questions, to discover new flavours and to savour a unique atmosphere.

Stallholders offer fine-food, design products, local farmers, seasonal items, gourmet goods, plants and herbs, fresh produce, cut flowers, organic producers and independent beers.

Here you can expect stalls from:

Market On Main will concern itself with being organic, green and sustainable, and to showcase the best that Gauteng and it’s surrounding areas have to offer.

BESPOKE: 2011 Winter/Autumn essential trends

Now the idea is that we all prepare ourselves for the season ahead and yes that means,,, START shopping for winter wear, so here are some things to keeps in mind while you’re on this fashion expedition.

Coat is a classic must have though the cut and the silhouette is in constant evolution. In 2011 as per trend masculine cloak, male version overcoat and the military styled jacket will carry you through this winter.

Coat by Lanvin

Taking inspiration from the 70s, with the tailored look for ladies we continue on the path of the men-pants, pencil skirts just above the knees or as mini and tight as the office allows, paired with opaque stockings or leggings. My advice keep it high waist and flare just as a way to maintain clean cut lines and the illusion of height and posture.

Clive Randal

The winter color palette pretty much never changes… the trusted black and gray are always the order of the season. Other colors that are on a need to have list are navy blue, khakhi and other autumnal ones such as reds, camel, mahogany and copper. I reckon, this gives you an opportunity to be creative and have fun with the colors.

Animal and tribal prints make for an interesting touch of glamour an eccentricity. Overlays and layering are the perfect way to own a look and as for shoes, boots reaching mid-calf are a sure way to seal the look.

We won’t dictate to you what you should wear but we’ll share our ‘know how’ just to help you keep up with the latest stylish trends.
