LIFESTYLE: Mini Countryman heads to SA shores

The much anticipated Mini Copper Countryman is finally heading down to SA shores in 2011. This beauty is the first 4-door Mini Cooper out of the full range since the car came gained momentum and popularity locally and internationally.


The Countryman is the first Mini to come with four doors and a large tailgate, as well as an interior offering space for up to five people. The new Countryman is also the first member of the Mini family with a body measuring more than four metres in length and which can be ordered as an option with all-wheel drive.



With these features, in addition to the Countryman’s raised seating position, the new car intends to take the Mini brand into new dimensions and win over additional target groups.



Two petrol-powered models will available when the car goes on sale later this year. Both the Mini Cooper Countryman and the Mini Cooper S Countryman, are powered by the brand’s proven 1,6-litre engine, producing 90 kW and 135 kW respectively.



The optional Mini All4 all-wheel drive allows the driving fun to continue off the beaten track as well. The permanent all-wheel-drive system’s quick response to changing conditions promises to deliver new handling talents for which MINI is famed. An electromagnetic centre differential positioned directly on the final drive varies the distribution of power seamlessly between the front and rear axles. The All4 system is available for the Cooper S Countryman only.

REVIEW: Top summer tracks to blaze

In my previous music review I blogged about 2010 albums you must get for summer, well I decided to go blog about track from some of those albums that you'll should be banging in your iPods, cd players and etc. These are some the tracks blazing on radio stations across the country and these are epic on the dance floor(I even lost my voice singing along to these).

1 Stimela ft Thandiswa Mazwai- Turn on the sun(black Coffee Remix)


Stimela did a great collabo with Thandiswa Mazwai for their reunion and Black Coffee remixes the track. Indeed Black Coffee is a superman, this track packs nothing but good beats(Coffee style) that will make anyone and I mean anyone to love this track.



2. Dj Mbuso ft Harrison Crump-Oh yeah


The Maf&So creator(remember Mbuso's Revenge, Soul Candi Session 1) and the former Soul Candi co-owner Dj Mbuso has produced a great track with collaborations from International Dj Harrison Crump. This hit track is taken from Mbuso's latest album, The Reconstruction after a long drought from the Mbuso fix.



3. N'Dinga Gaba/Shafi-Summer Breeze

Foliage Records brings you a delicious taster of Baltimore boys N'dinga Ngaba and Sahffi with “Summer Breeze.” The full release of Summer Breeze is set to appear in the early Summer of 2011. The track was number 1 on the Yfm Top 40 count down is the most requested track on the YFM playlist. Currently, ther track is taken from Afro Fashion Lounge and this track is the definite soundtrack for summer.




4. Oskido ft Proffessor-Born with the Microphone

Veteran House DJ na d YFM's very on expert on dance music, Oskido is back with another banger called Born with the Microphone. This track is on Oskido's ChurchGrooves 10 which includes his own production, renowned house classics, and up-and-coming producers. The man has paid his dues, and is now giving new talent a chance to shine. Teaming up with Kalawa Jazmee player Professor, makes this one of the hottest combinations at the moment.


5. Kanye West ft Rihanna-All the lights

Ok, I'll admit I'm all for local music and I buy local music at any given opportunity and I coukd have made this review about local club bangers but I decided to add something international from on of my favourite Rappers, Kanye West. All the lights is the second single from West's new album A Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and this track making wonders amongs most hip hop lovers and on the dancefloor.

Countries across six continents are coming together to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, an initiative to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity. To think big. To turn their ideas into reality. To make their mark.

From 15 - 21 November 2010, Global Entrepreneurship Week will connect young people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. Students, educators, entrepreneurs, business leaders, employees, non-profit leaders, government officials and many others will participate in a range of activities, from online to face-to-face, and from large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings.

Through this initiative, the next generation of entrepreneurs will be inspired and can emerge. In doing so, they will begin to acquire the knowledge, skills and networks needed to grow innovative, sustainable enterprises that have a positive impact on their lives, their families and communities.

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2009 was a great success and a brilliant example of what can be achieved by bringing together different ideas and cultures around the theme of enterprise. In 2010, we aim to unleash young people's ideas around the issues that matter most to society, from poverty reduction through to climate change, and to foster a global culture which recognises entrepreneurs as drivers of economic and social prosperity.

ENTERTAINMENT: Red Bull Kasi Crawl

Music, dance, fashion, poetry… it’s all going down at the Red Bull Kasi Crawl, a one-of-kind, one-day street festival celebrating the heart, soul and spirit of township culture.

On Saturday 6 November join us in Soweto’s famous Vilakazi Street, home to not one, but two Nobel Prize winners – Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu – and experience a brand new history in the making!

Feel the rhythm of eKasi as Red Bull pays tribute to those, young and old, who have been instrumental in Mzansi’s miraculous story. Celebrate the then and the now, as we look to the past as the inspiration for our future.

In true, pan-African style, Kasi Crawl brings you 4 stages, each hosted by a local icon from the worlds of House, Hip Hop, Dancehall and Kwaito:

• The Party People stage presented by the ever-popular Hip Hop scholar and innovator, DJ Kenzhero
• The Music Light Love stage with ex- Red Bull Music Academy participant and world record holding DJ (he played for 60 hours with one arm), the one, the only, Black Coffee. Having personally selected his favourite South African House line-up, this promises to be a day of House you don’t want to miss.
• The African Storm stage with curators, Admiral and Jah Seed. Purveyors of the reggae dancehall scene in South Africa since 1997 with their sounds of Buju, Sizzla, Marley, Tosh and other reggae legends, who else but this formidable pair could be called upon to ‘run tings’ on the reggae stage?
• And finally, the Keep Soweto Alive stage where you’ll find House, Kwaito and the sounds of the ‘kasi’ alive and kicking!

You’ll also find a feast of fashion, with one-off stalls from Thesis Social Jam, Africa Mutu Arts and Dankie San; a beer garden, shish’nyama and much, much more,
