Home Date: The best solution to a date.

Have you've met this wonderful girl, you hit off and you are interested in seeing her again right. So you ask her out on a date and she agrees. Only problem is you a little bit low on cash and going to a fancy restaurant is not a good option for you at the moment.

An alternative to going to a fancy restaurant for a date is a home date( yes a home date). What I mean by a home date is that you invite her over to your place, cook for her and just entertain her. A home date is more intimate.

Although not a lot of guys prefer cooking, there trick here is to seem like you can cook. Women love it when a man goes through all this trouble for her, which makes her feel special

1. First up, you must have a cookbook in fact the cookbook should be your kitchen bible and know most of what's in it. If you don't have one then borrow one and follow the instructions in the book.

2. Find out what type of food she likes to eat e.g what's her favourite dish, her favourite music(I assume this you'd know already) and what type of wine she prefers(well in this case the decision is yours) All of this information will make it easier for to prepare the right dish, mood and drinks. If she is a vegetarian(vegan) you can cook a vegetable stir-fry or spaghetti bolognaise with pasta sauce

3. Now once you've established the types she likes, it's time to shop. There's many food stores however always look for stores that offer great value on their food at affordable prices. Shops such as Woolies have great discounts or rather specials(yes I always look for the specials) such as ''eat in for R100'' and this includes dessert. Other stores such as Pick n Pay also have discounts and weekend special and it's also worth trying these. Don't forget the wine and snacks

4. Before you start going wild in the kitchen and revealing your Jamie Olivier skill, you should clean up your space. Remove all dirty laundry and put in the laundry bag and etc. Need I remind you that women can sense when a man is dirty and if she picks it up, this will be the last time you see her.

5. So now you know what type of food she likes and the shopping has been done, it's time for you start using your cookbook. Decide which dish you want to cook and start cooking it. However it would be wise to do the cooking when she is around just make sure the food is halfway through. In this way you get to display your skill.

6. Now when she arrives you'll playing some nice chilled tunes, pour her some wine which should cooled and serve her some snacks. She'll be checking out your place for any discrepencies(any item that indicate you live with someone maybe a female) and may even want to see what you're cooking.

She'll be impressed at how you've outdone yourself to entertain her. Whilst you still waiting for the food, kick off a lovely conversation by asking her how her day was and what she got up to. That should be a proper ice-breaker.

7. Once the food is ready serve it and enjoy your meal whilst conversing a lovely conversation. The key thing is to be entertaining.

8. After the meal, ask her if she'd like some dessert, if she declines it's probably because she's still full from your meal.

In this case, pour her more wine and continue the conversation. You can also play a game together(not hide and seek) but someting she'd enjoy doing. By this time thing should be clear as to where they lead( either the bedroom or the door).

Well the rest of the night all depends on your game and how you take things to the next level and whether she likes you or not. The trick is not to be TOO pushy, it screams desperation.

BESPOKE:THE NEW EVENING GLAM GENTS LOOK

When you get an invite for an evening formal affair what is the first thing that comes to mind? A black or charcoal suit right? Well let us break the rules a little bit.

Forget the suit and reach for a leather jacket as the key item.

Here are a few rules:

1.Jacket
Make sure the jacket is plain clean black or brown NO compromises here the jacket must be snuggle your body, fitted and must reach the waistline.

2.Shirt
Get a fitted shirt in white.

3.Pants
Then go for flat fronted pants in black or a pair of khaki chinos or even dark grey pants. Whatever pants you choose make sure they are narrow leg and reach your ankle.

4.Shoes
Let us discuss shoes because these can disable the whole look, now to be safe wear dark socks and patent leather lace ups. If you are the brave and bold enough, then go sockless and go for suede slip on's in a camel, brown or black or get the brightest color you can find. Loafers and moccassins can also do wonders for your outfit. Stores such as Fabiani and Woolworths have plenty of style and colours(Check out our previous post on loafers for a proper breakdown)

5.Accesorize(bow tie, belts, watches, scarves n etc )
You can add a bow tie in a funky tone that will compliment the whole look. Ensure that the accesories coordinate with the shoes or be safe and go for a leather or silk skinny tie. The choice is yours if you want to wear a belt or not I say leave the belt at home. Because it's winter, u can more flair to your look with a scarf paired up with leather gloves.

These are just guidelines have fun and make the look yours you can substitute the white shirt for a denim shirt. Just make sure you get the basics right and the colors coordinate.

DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE: Go Barefoot For A Day

I first heard of Youth Of Choice via social networking site twitter and now the youth organization has come up with a great initiative to mark the start of South Africa's youth month June.

The Youth Initiative is asking for people change lives on 01 June 2011. They're asking you to GO BAREFOOT FOR THE DAY and DONATE YOUR SHOES to us. These must be gently used shoes that someone else can use. You can walk part of the day or the entire day. Get your school involve and encourage your friends to get involve.

Many children do not go to school because they do not have school shoes and none of their families can provide them with shoes. With no education, their future does'nt look very bright. Having a pair of shoes will also help to play sport, fetch water and prevent them from soil-transmitted diseases.

The intention of this shoe campaign to bring a sense of HOPE, DIGNITY and CHANGE YOUR LIFE as well. As we would to think, "ONE PAIR GOES A LONG WAY"

If you think you are a CHAMPIONS 4 CHANGE to drive this campaign inside the schools and if you think YOU CAN take up this challenge, please contact Youth Of Choice's office at 033 342 2394 or email us at http://www.youthofchoice.org/contact.php.
