Mi casa Music unveiled their debut video yesterday via soulcandi TV which is titled "These Streets". Mi Casa is a band with three musically talented individuals, (Dr.Duda-Producer and club dj, J’Something- writer, vocalist and guitarist and Mo-T- Trumpeter).

Micasa music are the pioneers of music and are sure to take all music lovers on a journey untraveled.

Their instrumentation includes the keys, the trumpet, the guitar and mellow vocals which blend beautifully to create a soulful sound.

The Session featured some of the slickest line-up such as Shimza, Just Mo, Qt, Dj Mbuso, Mr Cee and other house cats were there too.

On 1 April, Vodacom will rock Orlando Stadium with SA’s biggest DJ line-up EVER!


This 9 hour music festival will feature some of the coolest, local and internationally recognised DJ’s: Black Coffee, DJ Fresh, Ralf Gum, Tim White, Culoe De Song, STRAT3GY, Rocco, DJ Christos, Vinny Da Vinci and Liquideep with special guest Grammy Award Winning DJ, Louie Vega!

Park and Ride facilities will be available from Nasrec with buses available from 1.30pm



Your bus ticket is included with the event ticket you buy from Computicket.

There are train stations at Mlamlankunzi and Orlando East, with a taxi rank at the Orlando East train station and well-lit, secure footways from both stations.

Louie Vega’

Irreplaceable to the scene, “Little Louie” Vega is the quintessential music professional. He’s the DJ’s DJ; an influence who’s defined countless other DJ-producers, from today’s stars to those still beat-matching in bedrooms. In 2008 the Grammy Award-winning DJ, producer, songwriter, label owner, band-leader and tireless champion of house and world music is only getting better; from Latin to Salsa, Afro-beat to jazz, hiphop to classics and all forms of house/dance music, the best is yet to come.



Black Coffee

Durban-born, Nkosinathi Maphumulo, has been on the music scene for over a decade but only got his break a few years ago. Black Coffee is popular for his smash hit remixes, most of which have dominated the airwaves in the past couple of years.


Liquideep

The Liquideep duo is made up of singer, songwriter and producer, Ziyon as well as DJ and producer, Ryzor, who got together in 2007 over a mutual love of house music. Just two years later, their track ‘Fairytale’, received a SAMA nomination for Song of the Year as well as a Channel O Music Video Award for ‘Most Gifted Dance Video’.


Vinny Da Vinci

Raised in a musically-inclined family in Atteridgeville, Pretoria , Vinny is one of the most important figures on the South African dance music scene. He has helped to galvanize deep club culture in his various capacities as Producer, DJ and partner in the House Afrika empire.


DJ Christos

A legendary DJ and one of South Africa`s most respected House producers. He is credited for the current flourish in the South African House music scene. Christos was one of the founders of the Kalawa label and via this and his own Katsaitis Music he’s been responsible for releasing some of SA’s most groundbreaking artists, including Boom Shaka, Lebo Mathosa, Shana, Daw and Black Coffee.


Rocco

His musical initiation began at the age of 16, influenced by the “Dimitri From Paris” radio show from 1987 to 1989, when Rocco discovered House music, disco and electro. Rocco started his first residency in Lyon, France in 1994, but later moved to Portugal holding residencies at various clubs before returning to France.


Ralf GUM

As respected figure in the House music scene for his exceptional productions and DJ-sets, Ralf has played at more than 300 German and international spots, including gigs all over Europe, Japan and the United States. Ralf`s career was kick-started in 1990 and he’s stayed true to his passion for cool and diverse sounds - the key ingredients being harmony, soul and groove - ever since


DJ Fresh

Thato started out in radio in Botswana in the early nineties. He gave up his law studies and pursued a career in radio fulltime, joining YFM in 1997. Fresh presented the YFM breakfast show in 2003 and then moved to 5FM in 2006 where his show has since become one of the station’s most popular shows.


DJ Tira

Mthokozi Khathi formed the DJ duo ‘Durban’s Finest’ together with Dj Sox in 2004. They were the team that first exploded the Durban sound onto the South African dance scene. After hooking up in the mid-90s to hone their skills, it was actually DJ Fresh who secured Tira and Sox the limelight their unique sound needed, and he initially signed them to his Big Dawg Productions label before helping them seal a deal with Sheer Sound.


CULOE DE SONG

Culoe’s serious music career began in early 2007 where he produced a piece that was included on Black Coffee’s second album offering, “Have Another One”. The track was named “100 Zulu Warriors” and is considered ‘his beginning’ in the circle of music in South Africa.


DJ Strat3gy

Jo’burg-based, but globally mobile, media maverick DJ Strat3gy (aka Glenn van Loggerenberg) mixes his passion for driving 4/4 beats with a formidable array of media skills which span the worlds of music distribution, broadcast, online, mobile and event staging. As a seasoned turntable DJ, currently appearing two to three times a week as DJ Strat3gy in clubs and on TV and radio, he is focused on elevating the art of the DJ to visual broadcast quality and mixing media with the live feel of an afrotronic dance floor.


The Maestro

The Maestro, aka Greg Maloka is a visionary and innovator with extensive media and deck manipulation experience. The Kaya FM Managing Director launched ground-breaking Gauteng youth radio station YFM in 1997 and has worked extensively across the radio sector whilst balancing a respectable DJ-ing career.


Tim White

Tim White is a South African promoter, empire owner, producer and a renowned DJ for his ‘Sunday Lounging’ style. Tim was a regular DJ at the country’s first real house and techno club and also set up House Afrika Records, a beat emporium for talented local DJs and producers.

When we got an invite that Soul Candi’s Kid Fonque was to be hosted by CNR537, we already knew that it was going to be the start of a great weekend. So Friday night the Kaizen team headed down to CNR537 in Dube Village to hear why he is deemed as the deep house kid (no pun intended). Now I’ve had a lot invites   to CNR537 sessions but i’ve never had the time to attend and boy was I surprised when we got to Dube Village. It turns out that CNR537 is a corner house(yes a corner house) and it was packed to the rafters with

the Soweto crowd.

Thami Letsoalo, the guy behind these sessions has become famous for hosting a number of popular dj’s such as Wireless G, HOUSECATZ, Bilal, Bobo,Subrocc, Sanza and most recently Kid Fonque.



Kid fonque delivered a 2-hour set of nothing but soulful and deep house music which got the crowd moving like there’s no tomorrow. Even my hostile colleagues who mostly listen to Hip Hop and Soul music where moved by Kid Fonque’s tunes. With supporting dj’s Sanza, Black DJ, HOUSECATZ, SGEMSHA also delivering killer house sets.

5 Minutes with Atjazz

It’s been a long time waiting but it’s finally here and he’s here to move your hips. So ladies and gentlemen put on your dancing shoes and get those cameras clicking because Atjazz will be playing at one of your favourite clubs or pubs in South Africa. The guy has graced us with many killer tracks like “For Real”, “Moments” and “Chasing” to name a few, you better go and hear what his got to offer.

On the chair with Atjazz...this guy has a very busy schedule for the tour and was able to grace the Kaizen team with few minutes of his time and made an interview with us. Martin aka "Atjazz" Iveson is one of the humblest guys ever. He was accompanied by Dj Gobbs from “Do It Now Recording” and this is how the interview went. Enjoy!!!!!

Kaizen: Who is Atjazz?
Atjazz: My name is Martin Iveson aka Atjazz, I grew up in the North of England. When I was little boy I used to like making sounds with my fingers and my father bought me a tiny synthesiser. I started making music in the late 1980’s and one of my friends introduced me to the new record label and made tracks for them. I started in the music industry as a producer and then dj a little bit.

Kaizen: When did you get a “Big Break” of making it in the industry?
Atjazz: I don’t know if i have (laughing), maybe this SA tour is one of the “big break” for me. It’s very nice if you guys think so. However, I feel like I’m here to do something not only for myself but for other artists, help people write better quality music and help them realise when their music is good. I tell people that music is only good when it gives you goose bumps and when you feel it. That’s the energy when you feel music feeds you, you know.

Back to answering the question, I don’t know if I’ve made a big break yet but I’ve never heard so many people screaming at me like crazy at House 22 (debut tour), people were screaming and I couldn’t even hear my record while I was playing.


Kaizen: What motivated you to write a track like “Please My People”?
Atjazz: That track is about me leaving my job, i was working at the big videogame company for about 13 years. The company i was working for was paying good wage bit it wasn’t fulfilling because i wasn’t really doing what i needed to do with my arts. So i left the job, if you could listen to the lyrics of the “Please My People” track is about pushing my work down, pushing it to the dirt and letting me carrying on with my passion. So now I’m free and here to “Please My People”!!!

Kaizen: Where do you get inspiration to write such music?
Atjazz: When I’m working i get into a sync and time just stops still...for me it’s like meditation, so is time i get to be in a moment between myself and the sounds. Nobody is in my head and that’s basically the thing because it feels like to me i don’t have to look for inspiration it feels like is the time in a clear empty space.

Kaizen: Is this your first time playing in South Africa?
Atjazz: Yes it is and so far i love the country, the tropical hot weather which is way better than in U.K it’s good for me. Here people are like...moving slowly not in a hurry and everybody seems to be super friendly and generously warm.

Kaizen: How did the tour came about?
Atjazz:Well, in 2010 i had communications with “Do It Now Recordings” and BBB music they talked to me to come play in SA. In August last year i had about eight people who wanted me to come this side nothing happened. Then by October 2lani “the warrior” spoke to me in bringing me here and arranged the gigs with “Do It Now Recording”

Kaizen: How would you view house music in S.A as compared to the one in Europe?
Atjazz: Here house music is like a lifestyle and it’s big whereas in Europe it’s like as the saying goes “there’s too many chefs and little onion”. Everyone wants to be the person at the top unhappy not to be just a fan or enjoying house music. Down here, music in their lives makes them feel happy, dancing or whatever.


Kaizen: Do you see yourself working with any local artist or producer?
Atjazz: Actually yes, I’ve joined with Do It Now Recording and did a remix of “Ngawe”. Beside that project I would love to work with Black Coffee but his also touring as well.


Kaizen: Which artists/vocalists have you featured on your latest projects?
Atjazz: I work a lot with the voice of Amalia (Canadian vocalist) who is based in Sweden. I’m also working with Tracy K and we doing a couple of demos for Vega Records. Tracy K is the vocalist who sings ‘cure and the cause’. In SA there is Kholi from C9ine we did a “Chasing” remix and I must say it’s rare to hear a voice I say wow I would like to work with and Bonga (Afro’traction) is the “Ngawe” vocalist from Do It Now Recordings. I don’t like working with singers that everyone have worked with, it’s more about working with new acts.


Kaizen: You probably have a busy schedule for the year ahead...what can we expect from Atjazz this year?
Atjazz: A tour is arranged for me to go play in the U.S and I’ve just finished mastering and releasing an album. In May, Atjazz remix history will be on shelves which is a 3 disc album. This will contain of my remixes through my career. Then July is the Southport Weekender at an Island in Croatia.


Kaizen: Which club are you a resident at down there?

Atjazz: Club life is no that on that side but i have a regular thing in 333 and play at a spot in London-Derby. There is a spot where we take new upcoming producers and dj’s and play their mixed tracks then put their name on the big screen just to give them exposure and market them...this is actually a good way of finding artists.
